I cruised down to Clondalkin, in Dublin this evening for another shoot session, a hen’s party. The crazy girls are supposed to be renting a pink hummer and then they’re planning a mad night out in the Dublin’s finest pubs and night clubs.

It’s the last time the bride-to-be can have a party without her fiancé. I feel honoured to take pictures of her last party.. but there was one problem.

As I was driving by, it was raining cats and dogs.

As i passed the motorway, I noticed something shocking - people standing outside underground tunnels (leading to N1 Dublin - Belfast) waiting for their cars to be taken out of the tragic sight of water flooding the whole place.

1 - Talk to your Photographer
I’ve lost count on the number of brides that have told me that they want photojournalist or traditional style photographs, even when most of them couldn’t explain to me the difference between both styles.

If you don’t know how to explain 100% what style you want, simply bring few pictures that you found in some magazines or you printed from some website and that represents the style that you like.

2 - Engagement Session - The Golden Rule
The engagement session is the Golden Rule. This session is essential for the bride and groom to have a perfect connection with the photographer. Not only that, but to get some tips from the photographer on how to work with some different poses at your wedding day (this alone will make a huge difference on the quality of your photographs).

Most men don’t feel very comfortable in front of a camera, and you don’t want to see your wedding photographs with the groom uncomfortable and not smiling.

3 - Time is everything
On your wedding day, it is important that you have a lot of extra free time to work with the photographer. Depending on what kind of pictures and styles that you selected, your photographer might need some extra time to get the shots done.

As an example; if you ask your photographer that you want some shots of the dress, flowers, arrangements, the rings with the invitation, putting on makeup, fitting the dress and etc, he/she will have to spend some extra time taking those shots. The list of things that your photographer can do for you is endless, but you need to ask and you need to give him/her some extra time.

Now that you have talked to your photographer, had your engagement session, learned few tricks on how to pose for the camera, and organized the schedule giving the photographer some extra time so he/she could complete the shot-list; it is time to relax and have some fun.

Remember that once in a while your photographer might come to you and say, “SMILE!”

Just smile, because today YOU ARE THE STAR.
